What is Efdc Ransomware
Efdc ransomware is a data encrypting malware which belongs to Stop/DJVU Ransomware Family. As soon as it attacks it scans all the data and directories, files present on the system. It encrypts the data using the RSA Salsa2o algorithm. It encrypts and holds the file hostage by appending “.Efdc” as extension. Suppose if the original image file was named as 1.jpeg, it gets renamed to 1.jpeg.efdc. The ransom note is soon dropped on the compromised system in each and every folder by Efdc ransomware as a text file which is named as “_readme.txt”. The ransom note bears the information that each and every file is encrypted on the system by Efdc ransomware. There is no other way to restore and decrypt files other than the Efdc Decryption tool. It can be only obtained by paying ransom to the hackers of Efdc ransomware. Also the note instructs the victims that the payment of the ransom will decide how much the ransom would cost exactly. The victims need to contact and write to hackers as quickly as possible on the email ids provided [email protected] and [email protected] If the ransom is paid within 72 hours to the fraudsters, victims will get a discount of 50% which would be $490. Else they would have to pay the full amount which amounts to $980. The ransomware holds the files hostage and then demands ransom to be paid to the hackers. The files which are encrypted can only be accessed if the victims have a decryption key with them. The victims can also try and find how decryption would work by sending and attaching sample file which is encrypted to the hackers which would get decrypted just to prove that decryption works and will be mailed back

Ransom Note
Should Ransom be Paid to Efdc ransomware hackers?
It is never suggested to pay or even think towards ransom payment would be a bad idea. This can also be confirmed by the FBI since there is no fool proof guarantee that files would be decrypted even after ransom payment.
The ransom would be used by hackers to create malware further and distribute them globally targeting Companies and Organizations. So victims should never promote or encourage this growth. It can only be done if ransom is not paid.
Paying ransom is illegal and is not allowed in various countries. So victims must abide by and follow the rules.
You can end up installing other malware if you are in touch or get exposed to hackers. They can further blackmail to pay ransom.
