Invert Ransomware: An overview
Invert Ransomware is yet another data encrypting malware in the wild. Its main motive is to encrypt the data and files stored on the victim’s computer. It uses the AES-256 algorithm and is rendered useless. It is crafted by hackers in such a way that it can target almost all the files and filetypes that are present on the compromised PC. Eventually the data is held hostage and victims have to pay ransom to hackers. Invert Ransomware is known to use cryptographic algorithms which are uncrackable as it appends .fun file extension to the existing files. It renames the existing files by adding a new file extension thus making the files inaccessible. Suppose image file with the name 1.jpg will be renamed to 1.jpg.fun

The Window contains a button that indicates all files are encrypted. The ransom note bears the information regarding the ransom amount of $10 in Bitcoins. Also the ransom amount must be transferred within the stipulated time frame of 2 hours. Else the locked files will be permanently lost or deleted. Victims may contact the hackers or operators of Invert Ransomware using [email protected]’ email address as clearly mentioned in the ransom note.
How Invert Ransomware Distributed on the system
It is distributed via emails, fake installers/updaters, downloading files from unauthentic sources, installing cracked software, clicking on malicious ads and links. Mostly Trojans get installed on the system and it drops the payload making it vulnerable for Invert Ransomware attacks.
Should Ransom be paid to hackers
No, it is never a good idea to pay the ransom to hackers of Invert Ransomware. There is no guarantee as to whether victims will get a decryption tool or private keys even if the ransom is paid. Hackers should never be relied upon. Besides they have not provided any proof that they will release the decryptor tool once they receive the ransom amount. So why to boost their morale and it can further expose your system to further risks. So instead of paying the ransom, victims should remove Invert Ransomware from their compromised system.
