What is Lmas Ransomware
Lmas Ransomware is a dangerous file encrypting malware of STOP/DJVU Ransomware family that demands ransom in form of crypto currency. The ransom is demanded through ransom note. It encrypts all files other than non-system files such as images, documents, archives folders, database etc. All these files get encrypted and locked as soon as the system is attacked by Lmas Ransomware. The ransom note has a title _readme.txt and is dropped on the desktop for the victims to inform that their files are held hostage for the sake of ransom which is to be paid to hackers. It can be seen that files which are locked is renamed and appended with .lmas extension. If image file with name 1.jpeg is encrypted it will be renamed to 1.jpeg.lmas. This is the reason why such files can’t be accessed for further usage. The ransom note bears two different email addresses of hackers as [email protected] and [email protected] which can be used for contacting hackers for payment of the ransom. It further seeks victims to pay the ransom fee within 72 hours after the system has been compromised. It claims that paying the ransom within stipulated time frame will get concession or 50% discount.
