Strategy Used by Nov Ransomware
Once the system is compromised by Nov Ransomware it is capable to modify the files and modifies the name of the extension by appending .NOV at the end of the file names. It further drops Ransom notes in two different forms as in form of text and another one as Pop-up Window. The one in Text format is dropped as MANUAL.txt and it bears information such as contact email ids of hackers. These email ids are [email protected] and [email protected] It does not bear any other information. However the second form of note which is in form of Pop-up Windows is somewhat more clear and states to use secondary email only if the victims do not get any response after mailing on first id. They should wait for at least 12 hours or so before trying on 2nd email address which is given on the ransom note. It further states that if users try any third party Recovery tool to decrypt or unlock the encrypted files and data, they will end up losing all files permanently.
When you are infected with this program, you will see a message in German on your screen. Generally, ransomware programs deny access from the desktop, pretending to be related to law enforcement authorities. Generally speaking, it will be impossible to use the computer unless you eliminate this infection entirely. These files contain instructions that should be followed by the computer user who has been the victim of this infection. Most likely, this file will be decrypted for free and you will have to pay a ransom if you want to have access to the rest of your files.
We recommend ignoring Spam email to avoid infecting your system with malware. As you know, ransomware is a very serious infection, so you must take care of the security of your system in order not to encounter these threats again.
In technical terms, NOV Ransomware is a very unpleasant and weird infection because as soon as it enters your computer, it encodes the most used file extensions, thus making it impossible to access MS Word documents, video, photographs, Excel documents and others . In fact, we do not recommend that you do it manually because it is very complicated.
As for NOV Ransomware, since the program removes itself, you will have to worry about the main infection files. This infection does not need several components to avoid removal because its main function is to encrypt your files to make it inaccessible and render it unusable.
