What is Pola Ransomware ??
Pola Ransomware is a dangerous cryptovirus belonging to STOP/DJVU Ransomware family. It encrypts and locks system files and demands ransom from victims. All the personal data and non-system files get appended by the Pola virus since it renames files appending as .pola file extension. The original name of the file is renamed such as file name with image.jpg is renamed as image.jpg.pola. Soon after the files are locked, Ransom note with the name as _readme.txt is dropped on the desktop by the ransomware. It is the confirmation from hackers informing victims that their system is attacked by Pola Ransomware and they need to pay the ransom amount to hackers if they want their files to get unlocked. The demanded ransom amount varies from $490/$980 depending upon the time taken to pay out the ransom. Further the ransom note contains email id of hackers where victims can contact before paying the ransom. Ransom note further informs that hackers would respond to the mails within 6 hours of time frame. Also victims should check their junk/spam folder.

Why Victims Should Not Pay Ransom
As a sample victims can attach one of their one of the encrypted file or data can be attached in the emails and sent across to hackers. This can serve as proof for recovery of files. If the victims contact hackers within 72 hours of attack, they will get a discount upto 50%. This is done so that many of the victims rush to pay the ransom amount as soon as possible. But it is never advised to pay the ransom money. This is completely wastage of money as there is no surety whatsoever that hackers will give the decryption tool even if the ransom is paid. What if suppose you pay the ransom and still you do not get the decryption or private key.
