What is Sspq Ransomware ?
Sspq Ransomware is detected as a new variant of STOP/DJVU Ransomware family by Infosec researchers. Like other previous variants such as Igvm Ransomware , Tirp Ransomware , Ygkz Ransomware , Cadq Ransomware even Sspq Ransomware is found to lock and encrypt data stored on compromised and targeted PCs. Once it encrypts the files it demands ransom from the victims in order to restore the files and data. It encrypts data stored on the PC except system files but that does not mean that it is less harmful or threatening. All the data and files which are encrypted will have .sspq as file extension appended with files get renamed as. Suppose 1.jpg will get renamed as 1.jpg.sspq file extension.
If you are able to find such files on your system and they are rendered useless or can’t be opened then it’s a matter of concern. This is an indication that the system has been attacked by Sspq Ransomware. Further the ransom note is dropped on the compromised PC by the hackers of Sspq Ransom virus. It contains information that reads victims have to pay the ransom amount of $980 for a decryption key if they want the data to get restored. Also there is a stipulated time frame of 72 hours. That is if the amount is paid to hackers within the first 72 hours, victims will get a discount of 50 percent slashed and they will have to pay $490. Besides hackers have provided two email ids as [email protected] and [email protected] for further communication. Victims can also upload any single file that needs to be decrypted for free to demonstrate how their data will be restored.

Should Victims Pay to Sspq Ransomware Hackers?
It is strongly suggested that victims should never negotiate or pay ransom amounts to hackers forget paying it within 72 hours. There is no certainty that hackers will provide a decryption tool even after getting the ransom. Hackers should never be trusted and relied upon. What if they take the amount and do not provide any decryptor. Also they might use the ransom amount paid by you in creating some new malware for targeting PC further. Victims must refrain themselves from paying or negotiating with hackers. Instead users should remove Sspq Ransomware from their PC. It is such a nasty malware that it deletes the Volume Shadow copy of the files and data. Thus it ceases all possibilities of restoring data back. The only way to restore data is through backup of the important and crucial files if created on some different system or some external storage devices. Make it a regular habit of creating and taking backup of important data as cases of ransomware attack have been on rise.
